Attending to, appreciating and extending a positive experience while it occurs is among the most consistently supported mechanisms predicting wellbeing in the literature. It operates in three directions — anticipation, the moment itself, and recollection — and almost all of the available gain is unclaimed because nobody is attending.

What this does not claim
No finding establishes what anybody should enjoy, and nothing here suggests that attention to pleasure resolves difficulty or substitutes for treatment. The honest claim is narrower: savouring is among the best-supported wellbeing mechanisms available and is almost entirely unused; positive emotion produces a measurable physiological recovery effect; adaptation erodes repeated pleasures reliably; and the requirement to earn rest is a rule somebody handed you rather than a fact about how people work.
