What this does not claim

No finding establishes that anybody will produce work of significance, and nothing here promises that practice substitutes for circumstance, access or time. The honest claim is narrower: creative self-belief is the strongest proximal predictor of creative activity and it is modifiable; external evaluation reliably degrades the work produced under it; deliberate engagement explains a meaningful but partial share of performance; and the belief that creativity is issued at birth is both false and the most effective thing yet devised for stopping people making anything.
